Zoom

A Virtual Coffee Morning ...

Are you missing your friends at MKCCG? Would you like to see and talk to them? Then join our Zoom meetings.

Zoom is a computer program used to hold online virtual meetings. You can use Zoom on a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop, or a desktop computer (as long as you have a camera, speakers, and a microphone). It uses your computer’s or phone’s camera to show live video of all attendees (if you don’t want to be on camera, that’s fine, too. You can just display your name). Zoom uses your computer’s or phone’s microphone to let you talk to other meeting participants. If you do not have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can use a phone to dial into a meeting.

This is what Stan Keeves, our Social Chairman and Tuesday LTC Member had to say:

"When I was approached by Caroline, and asked “Would I think a Zoom meeting would be a good idea?” I replied, “Try it and let’s see what happens”. Well, the Zoom meeting was set up for Tuesday morning at 10am, hosted by Caroline. It was great; there was myself “Stan,” Theresa, Roger, and then Margaret joined us. As the weeks passed Alan also joined us.

Needless to say we are still hoping for more members to join us on Tuesday mornings. My personal feeling is that it is a great way to communicate with members you haven’t seen or spoken to since the “pandemic” began so, yes, both Theresa and of course myself look forward to Tuesday mornings when we can all have a little get together and catch up. I forgot to mention that just recently Jos happened to join us too.

It’s just great to be able to speak to members and of course see them. So, with that in mind and to sum it up, the Tuesday Zoom meetings are really good and I look forward to seeing other members if they can manage it. We have had so me members join us on occasions that are unable to make the weekly chat and that’s great, it makes the meeting more interesting. So, come and join us with a biscuit and make yourself a coffee/tea and have a chat."

"We ‘meet’ every Tuesday morning at 10.00. It is a great opportunity to have a chat, a laugh and a jolly good moan with a variety of Members from Group. Those who join the Zoom Meets come from different sessions and it is a great way to meet old and new friends with similar interests.

You do not have to be high-tech minded to join the meeting, just click on the invitation link and when connected to the Zoom meeting you need to turn the mic on (left click). The mic icon is normally shown on the bottom left of most computer screens as an old styled microphone with a red diagonal line across it. You will need to turn your computer volume to about 60/80.

It is a good idea to have a drink to hand - sometimes we can rabbit on for a couple of hours!"

The Tuesday Zoom meetings have been a great success. They have allowed us to keep in touch and discuss the topics of the day and what is going on with MKCCG. Well worthwhile and helpful especially when we were in lockdown or isolation.

If you are interested in joining a Zoom chat with other members, please contact group on enquiries@mkccg.org, use the Contact Form, leave a message on 01908 632999 or chat with a member of staff who will put you in touch with one of the hosts.

For help accessing and using Zoom, please see this step-by-step guide.

We look forward to welcoming you to our meetings.
