The singing for breathing group would normally meet every Monday afternoon from 3pm to 4.15pm at Hinton Hall. The aim of the group is to help people improve their breathing by using various breathing exercises, vocalisations and mostly singing for enjoyment.
When we were in lockdown I started videoing some of the breathing exercises that we do. They are reminders for the group of regular exercises, but should be clear enough for anyone to follow. They can be repeated more times than I show, but you should stop and breathe normally if you get slightly light-headed, which can happen if you are not used to breathing deeply. You may find some of them quite relaxing.
The warm up songs are used to ease into the singing and often for a bit of fun! See if you can follow Knees Up Mother Brown sung using only the numbers 1,2,3,4,5 in order - congratulations if you get to the end accurately. Mainly, have fun and enjoy exercising your lungs with a song or two.
