Summer heatwaves and hot weather can affect anyone. But if you have a long-term Lung or Heart condition, you’re more at risk of the heat affecting you.

We have heard from MK Council that on
Thursday 14th July the road outside Hinton Hall will be closed from
9.30am to 4.30pm for carriageway resurfacing. This means that members and staff would be unlikely to be able to park as usual.
Following consultation with Members at the Thursday morning and Thursday LTC sessions on 7th July it has been agreed that we will cancel those two sessions on 14th July. Some Members have taken up the offer of attending a different session during the week beginning 11th July. If you weren’t present on 7th but wish to take advantage of this offer, please contact the Office to discuss alternative arrangements.
Our Management Committee met again on 20 June.

One of our two Senior Administrators, Katie, left us this week to go on Maternity Leave.
Presentations were made to Katie on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of flowers and presents from Members, Volunteers and Staff. We wish Katie all the best and look forward to seeing her again next year.
Leisa Boyle has joined the Admin team while Katie is away. Welcome Leisa.
A Breath of Fresh Air, MKCCG’s very own Singing for Breathing group are delighted to be back in our usual session now, on Monday afternoons from 3 – 4.15 pm.
We decided to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee by taking part in Radio 2’s Jubilee Thank You idea. This involves people from all over the country recording themselves singing the chosen song – Sweet Caroline, which fortunately is part of our regular repertoire.
So we got out the flags and recorded ourselves and sent it off to the programme. We will form part of the montage of voices superimposed on Neil Diamond’s original track, and may also feature in a video montage for social media. Here is the video we sent to the BBC.
We’d love to have more members – an ability to sing is NOT a requirement as the main aim is to improve breathing, especially important after the problems that Covid has caused. Details can be obtained from the office.

The government has announced an end to all legal Covid restrictions from Thursday 24th February 2022.
At MKCCG we plan to continue our current safety precautions for a while longer as we gather the views of our members and staff on the pace of easing/removing these measures. Then we’ll produce a road map for the timing of an eventual return to our pre-Covid arrangements.

I’m writing to you following Hayley’s message to members last week about her decision to step down as Manager towards the end of March. As soon as she confirmed her decision with the Officers, we started the process to find a new manager.
I am delighted to be able to announce that Emma Brisson has been appointed to the post of Manager.
Emma joined our staff in September of last year as an Exercise Teacher. Emma has experience, and the relevant qualifications, in cardiac, respiratory and stroke rehabilitation. In addition, Emma has a strong background in business management.
Between now and the end of March Emma will continue with her regular sessions as well as spending additional time with Hayley acquainting herself with all aspects of group.
The President, Officers and I, are very pleased to make this appointment and we look forward to MKCCG continuing to flourish and develop.
Very Best Wishes, Ivan
As from 27 January 2022 face coverings are no longer required by law. However, the advice from government and public health bodies is to continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with people you do not normally meet. Also, face coverings continue to be required in health and care settings such as hospitals, GP surgeries and care homes.
Given this advice, MKCCG will continue to ask members to follow our COVID-safe procedures – do not attend if you have symptoms or you have had contact with someone who has tested positive, or you have had a positive Lateral Flow Test yourself recently; unless you are exempt, wear a face covering while entering and moving around Hinton Hall, although you can remove it for exercise; maintain a safe distance from others while at Hinton Hall.
Government and public health guidance will be reviewed regularly and we will consider easing these measures as soon as it is said to be safe.
